Papa Kui Ai Workshop

Learn to make a papa kuiai in four days.  Spend the rest of your life eating poi.

Complete your own Papa Ku'i'ai in just 4 days with the guidance and support of seasoned teachers. We have three, four hour classes scheduled each day.  Participants with power tool experience have finished a papa in 4-6 hours.  Less experienced folks take a little longer.  We are there to help guide the process to POI-fection.

$250 for the workshop + Cost of your fishpond cured slab (Mango, Monkeypod, Java Plum). 

Price varies per size, $15/board foot -  pay at pick up.  Sizes and prices listed below are approximated.

We have two styles with no seats in 3" & 4" thickness - approximately  12"x24" ($90-$120) & 16"x36" ($180-$270)

And two styles with seats - approximatley 18"x54" one seat ($305-$405) and 20"x96" two seats ($600-$800), also in 3" & 4" thickness.

Participants (12 and older) sign up for a four hour per day workshop x four days.  Participants are provided with ear protection, safety glasses, and gloves.  Participants are expected to bring water, work cloths (fitted/not loose), covered shoes and a good attitude.  Participants will work with a power planer, grinder, and sander.  All underage participants require parents/guardians at all times.
